NAME-CaNOE Ocean Literacy Conference

The Northwest Aquatic and Marine Educators and the Canadian Network for Ocean Education invite educators, researchers, students, and resource professionals from the Pacific Northwest and across Canada to meet, learn, share, and socialize at the 2021 NAME/CaNOE virtual summer conference, which will be held online August 17-20, 2021.

“Virtual conference sessions, networking opportunities, and social activities will be spread across four consecutive weekdays from Tuesday, August 17, through Friday, August 20. We will make every effort to accommodate those in different time zones across the US and Canada and hope that all attendees will find plenty of ways to participate!”

SIMRS Build-A-Whale Presentation

Join SIMRS Research & Education Director, Sydney Dixon, for a “hands-on” virtual Build-A-Whale presentation as part of the NAME-CaNOE 2021 Conference. Build-A-Whale is an interactive program that allows participants to assist in constructing the real skeleton of an offshore killer whale while learning about the biology, ecology, anatomy, evolution, and conservation of killer whales and other marine mammals. This presentation will give educators a sneak peak of the one-of-a-kind display and share some of the unique teaching tools and props SIMRS uses to engage audiences of all ages in ocean literacy.
